S.Q. Pedalian is the most loyal Executive to Mr. Curtain. It is believed that S.Q. was repeatedly brainswept, causing him to forget all evil in Mr. Curtain, thinking it's all for the best. He appears to want to believe that Mr. Curtain has good intentions. S.Q is an orphan and serves Mr. Curtain like a son despite his mistreatments.

In the TV series, his full name is Shepard Quaid Pedalian and he is introduced as Mr. Curtain's adoptive son. He draws pictures and blows glass, is able to learn birds' names and "jobs" by watching them, and is present when Mr. Curtain and Reynard Muldoon meet.

Personality[]

S.Q. is generally kind-hearted but dimwitted, thanks to Mr. Curtain. He admires Mr. Curtain and wants to believe what he is doing is for good, but sometimes doubts that. He at some points fails to notice the obvious, and forgets things very easily.

S.Q. is particularly fond of the The Mysterious Benedict Society, but has been convinced by Mr. Curtain that they are the real enemy, or at the very least that they have been confused and don't realize that Mr. Curtain actually wants to hurt them.

His kind and caring nature causes him to ask questions that would get others booted from Mr. Curtain's service, such as whether they ought to ask for people's permission before placing messages in their mind using The Whisperer. Additionally, he tends to ask these questions more than once without realizing it, due to having been repeatedly brainswept. Mr. Curtain tends to give him answers which, if not enough to satisfy him, nevertheless create within him the impression that he ought to be satisfied.

One of his most memorable moments was in The Mysterious Benedict Society and the Prisoner’s Dilemma, when he agrees to help Mr. Curtain escape, but refuses to hurt the members of the Mysterious Benedict Society.

Love[]

S.Q. Pedalian is loyal to Mr. Curtain because of love. While Executives do this for power and Ten Men do it for money, S.Q. Pedalian does it just because he admires Mr. Curtain and can't think anything bad about him. It seems that he was repeatedly brainswept to make him this loyal to Mr. Curtain.
